Snow day!

My son stayed home from school, so we all slept in, played games, and went for a walk downtown in the snow. I’m filled up with outside air and feel invigorated. My favourite part was trudging through the drifts with my husband and kids. The kids were on the slide and insisted on sliding down streets, sidewalks, staircases. They were actually jolly and giggling as the biting wind slapped us all in the face.

It.

Was.

Blustery.

But warmth comes from foregoing the schedule and hanging out like that. I liked that we could slide in the middle of the street. I liked that the foot path was so narrow on parts of the downtown sidewalk that we had to negotiate with strangers to get by, with exchanged hellos and knowing grins. We’re all in this together.

At the end of the day, the sky cleared and I felt like I’d lived two lifetimes in one day.

Newfoundland has that effect on people. It plays with time.
